A TASTE OF THE BEACH

(American Apparel shirt, thrifted skirt, sandals from Payless, Steve Madden bag, random sunglasses, bracelet from SoHo vendor, JewelMint rose gold ring, other gifted jewelry)

It's been a great weekend. Here's a look at my day yesterday. Zachary and I ventured out to Coney Island after spending our Friday just relaxing. It was my first time there, and I must say I was pretty excited to get a little taste of the beach. A part of me wishes that I had packed a bathing suit and towel so I could just lay there all day. You will probably not believe me when I say that I have not been to the beach (or laid in the sun) all summer. My lack of tan might give it away. Our day also included a trip to the New York Aquarium, which is right along the boardwalk there. We saw tons of different fish, watched a sea lion show, and even got to see some sharks up close and personal. You can check out some of my snapshots on Instagram. I must admit that I was probably more scared of seeing the sharks than the million little kids around me were.

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend! Here's to relaxing for the rest of the night before another work week begins.

INTO THE NIGHT

(thrifted top, skirt from Nasty Gal, random sandals, Danielle Nicole bag)

Well, exhausting weekend number one has come to a close. I am officially moved into my new apartment, and a mix of emotions have overtaken me. It's such a crazy feeling knowing that I just got my first apartment here in New York. These photos are taken on my street, which just so happens to be the same name as the one I grew up on in Maryland (Fifth Avenue). Has to be meant to be, right?

I am patiently waiting for Friday when my parents will be arriving with everything from my room in Maryland.. and the rest of my closet! Cannot wait to share this whole process with you guys. Let me just say that I am one happy girl.

SNAKESKIN + VELVET

(Trouvé shirt- similar, kimono from Rugged Wearhouse, Nasty Gal velvet pants, G by Guess oxfords, Steve Madden bag- similar, all vintage and thrifted jewelry)

I feel like my days here in New York have already flown by, but then again it hasn't even been two weeks since I moved! All I know is that "real life" is settng in. Having a Monday through Friday job with my own desk, apartment searching in the city, planning to tackle student loans soon, and calling my parents to catch up.. this is just craziness. The only thing I hope is that I find happiness with my new life here. Just need to trust and believe.

P.S. - Thank you, Mom, for my two Groupon gifts you have gotten me this week! One to go enjoy good Irish food and beer, and another for a month of yoga at the place right next to my office. Must say I am one happy girl and thankful to have the best mom ever.

DETAILS

(shirt from H&M, thrifted blazer, Nasty Gal suede chap leggings- similar, Nine West boots- similar, necklace from Rugged Wearhouse, other thrifted jewelry)

Just some details of my outfit today. Sorry for the lack of posting lately. Life has not given me time for updating you all much this week. Adjusting to New York has been a little harder than I thought. You would think after living in Paris and traveling Europe for four months, I would be okay. Let me just say that New York is SO different. I now realize how quiet and relaxing Paris was, and I really miss that! However, I know that I will soon have a love for living here. It will just take some time. On a brighter note, I am very excited for the weekend and getting to know my new home a little better!

MISMATCHED

(Free People top, Old Navy button up, Nasty Gal suede chap leggings- similar, Nine & Co. boots - similarMichael Kors watch, gifted rings, thrifted bracelets)

My Saturday was spent with Brianna at my favorite restaurant in the whole world, Main Cup. We enjoyed delicious bourbon pecan coffee (yum!) along with brunch. I have had this FP top since December and could never figure out something to pair it with. This happens a lot with purchases- they just sit in my closet with their tags on for awhile. And, I hate when that happens. I finally threw it over a plaid shirt and thought it could work. Not so sure how I feel about it fully yet, but it was something different and unexpected.

Now, I am off to enjoy my Sunday with family. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

This past Wednesday was the IFB Conference at Milk Studios here in the city! It was a great opportunity to meet new people and gain amazing advice from different panels of top bloggers and writers. Stay tuned for a lot of changes that will be happening right here on the blog! I opted for a more casual outfit for the day in order to be comfortable for the 830am- 5pm conference. I will be posting some more about the day, including my favorite panelists and new bloggers I had the honor of meeting. In other news, I am off to Bloggers Night Out tonight. So excited!

A LITTLE TOO SIMPLE

(shirt from Express- similar, Nasty Gal suede chap leggings- similar, thrifted oxfords, necklace from Rugged Warehouse, vintage cameo ring, other gifted ring)

Whenever I go visit my aunt, she likes when look put together and polished. She is definitely not shy about telling me that she doesn't like my outfit.. haha. This was my outfit yesterday when I went to spend time with her. And, she was happy. So was I because the little time I am able to spend with her is the best. She is one of the most important people in my life, and not to mention the best cook in the world. So, here is probably the simplest outfit you will ever see me wear. A little too simple.

BELATED BIRTHDAY POST

(wearing: H&M sweater, Old Navy plaid shirt- similar, velvet pants from Nasty Gal- similar, G by Guess oxfords, Michael Kors watch, vintage necklace, other random and thrifted jewelry)

Here are some random shots from my birthday last Sunday. My first legal drink was a mimosa during a delicious brunch with my family and best friend Marcy. It was also snowing on my birthday! So perfect, right? My friend Brianna gave me the cutest card, ever. She knows me too well. Anything with the Eiffel Tower I am sure to love! The necklace I wore is my new favorite addition to my jewelry collection. I picked up at an antique store in Lancaster for only $10!

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend. And, don't forget about my giveaway!!
