RED LIPS + TOP KNOT

(Express blazer- similar, shirt from Madewell, necklace from Rugged Wearhouse, other thrifted jewelry)

After a long relaxing weekend, Monday came too soon. Time to start another work week. My roommate left me this past weekend to go visit her family in Maryland (yes, it happens to be her home too). Of course there was a bit of jealousy there. A part of me wanted to jump on the bus with her. I had to pretty much force myself to stay here in order to adjust and get used to being away from where I was once comfortable. It was a good choice though! My Saturday was spent walking through Central Park with coffee in hand, enjoying time away from the tall buildings and congested streets. The rest of the weekend was spent trying to be productive by doing laundry and a little bit of grocery shopping. I was also very happy to visit a church here- one that seems like the perfect place for me. And how about this gorgeous weather? Let's hope it is here to stay!

P.S. - This is the first time I have tried out red lipstick. I usually stick with pink cuz I never thought I could pull off the red lips. Kinda into it though. Yay for trying new things!

VOYAGE TO UTOPIA FASHION SHOW

(vintage dress, Express blazer, Hue tights, Aldo heels, Michael Kors watch, other random jewelry)

This past Saturday was the Voyage to Utopia fashion show at my alma mater, Marymount University. It was a crazy feeling being back on campus there after graduating in December, but it was such an awesome show that I am glad I didn't miss out on. I was super impressed with some of the collections from local DC designers. The students did an incredible job in all aspects of the show, from the stage to the music selection. These are some photos of my favorite looks that came down the runway, and of course what I wore to the show. I found this dress awhile ago while vintage shopping and gave it a little fishtail hem. Totally obsessed now. You can check out my article on Examiner here to learn more about the Voyage to Utopia show. Also, see tons more photos from all the collections in my Facebook album here. Oh, and while you are there make sure to 'like' my new page!

FRIDAY AFTERNOON

(Xhilaration top, H&M corduroy pants- similar, a.n.a boots- similar, Steve Madden bag- similar, Michael Kors watch, Express bracelet, gifted ring, other random and thrifted jewelry)

My Friday afternoon was spent with my very good friend Brianna in local downtown Frederick. We enjoyed sushi at my favorite place and some delicious cupcakes. Apple strudel to be exact. I must say that they beat Georgetown cupcakes, for sure. We even went to check out a new cupcake shop that opened across the street. The business women that we are, we had to see the competition for ourselves.. haha. The apple strudel from Angelcakes was the winner. Best cupcake ever. It was a lovely afternoon, and we were even blessed with beautiful sunshine.

A LITTLE TOO SIMPLE

(shirt from Express- similar, Nasty Gal suede chap leggings- similar, thrifted oxfords, necklace from Rugged Warehouse, vintage cameo ring, other gifted ring)

Whenever I go visit my aunt, she likes when look put together and polished. She is definitely not shy about telling me that she doesn't like my outfit.. haha. This was my outfit yesterday when I went to spend time with her. And, she was happy. So was I because the little time I am able to spend with her is the best. She is one of the most important people in my life, and not to mention the best cook in the world. So, here is probably the simplest outfit you will ever see me wear. A little too simple.

(Michael Kors jacket- similar, Old Navy Sweater, scarf from Gap- similar, H&M corduroy pants- similarNine & Co. boots- similar, Steve Madden bag- similar, Michael Kors rose gold watch, gifted ring, Express bracelet, other random and
thrifted jewelry)

So, here are the first of my many adventures during my time in Pennsylvania. On Saturday, my mom and I explored the downtown area of Lancaster. I must say that I loved it! It was very artsy, with lots of great things to do and shops to see. The first thing on our list was to check out the Central Market. Apparently it's the country's oldest farmer's market. I loved the busyness inside and seeing the locals who shopped there. It reminded me a bit of Reading Terminal in Philly, but it definitely was not as big. My mom got me some loose chai tea that I am very excited about trying! Of course I had to grab a mean cup of coffee on the way out too. While we walked around the city, we checked out this one place called Building Character. It was a huge warehouse full of different vendors. Lots of creative things inside and even great vintage stuff. I never would have thought Lancaster would have such awesome places. Ah, so much more to share with you still!

And... look what we had to end our afternoon! We found this amazing little crepe place, Rachel's Cafe & Creperie. It was as if I was back in Paris. The last photo is the crepe my mom had, a fruit cheesecake one. I, of course, stuck with the classic nutella and banana. I will definitely be going back to this place!
