SIDE OF LACE

(thrifted sweater, leggings from Forever 21, random branded flats, gifted necklace, BCBGMAXAZRIA watch, gifted rings)

Can this week be going by any slower? I totally blame the nasty weather. New York City, where is the beautiful fall weather at? I am anxiously awaiting it. As you can see, my camera was not cooperating with the gloomy lighting. I've always loved out of focus photos though (remember this post?). So I couldn't help but post them anyways.

P.S. - How is October ALREADY here?

PARTS OF A GREAT WEEKEND

(wearing: See You Monday skirt, Forever 21 tank, sandals from Payless, vintage bag, Steve Madden sunglasses)

This weekend has been one of the best ones since I have moved to New York. Marcy is here for a visit, and we have had so many good times together. Friday night we enjoyed dinner at an Irish restaurant across the street from my apartment, which has now become my new favorite spot to eat. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably are already aware. Their food is amazing, but the fact that it's BYOB makes it so much better. Yesterday we spent some time at Battery Park so she could see Lady Liberty herself and then ventured into SoHo. The weather was not on our side (walking around the city in the middle of August is pretty disgusting), so we called it a day and enjoyed some mexican food at home. Fiesta night has always been a Marcy and Melissa tradition. Our times spent together must involve some of my homemade guacamole. Oh, and my new blender was put to good use for some margaritas. We have spent some time exploring my new neighborhood here in Brooklyn, and I can't wait to share more with you all!

P.S. - My plan to convince Marcy to stay forever has slightly worked. She may be staying an extra
few days. Woo hoo!

VISITING THE 9/11 MEMORIAL

(Madewell t-shirt, shorts from Forever 21- similar, Madden Girl sandals, Danielle Nicole bag, Michael Kors watch, random sunglasses and headband)

My weekend also involved a visit to the 9/11 Memorial. This was my first time there, and I think they have done a beautiful job with it. They have made it into a relaxing place where the friends and families of those lost on 9/11 can go and remember them. It was definitely nice to see a little bit more of the city I call my home.

REYNOLDS MANSION

(Jason Wu for Target top, Forever 21 pants, Madden Girl sandals, Steve Madden bag - similar)

I got to spend some time at this beautiful bed and breakfast this past weekend. The old historic house added even more relaxation to my Saturday and Sunday. I was one happy girl. Reynolds Mansion was only my second stay at a bed and breakfast (this being my first).

Hope your week has been starting off well. Here's to hoping the rest of it flies by!

BLUE TINT

(LC Lauren Conrad top, pants from Forever 21, Simply Vera wedges, Michael Kors watch, white vintage ring, other ring from random boutique)

So here is how this photo taking session went: I told my mom to turn the flash off after noticing it was on during the first few shots. She, of course, does not know much of anything about Cameron (my Canon) and asks which setting. I clearly tell her, but of course she chooses the wrong setting. Not until after all the photos were taken do I realize this weird (maybe cool?) coloring was the effect. And, there was not much I could do at that point to change any of it (we were already running late for church). However, I am very thankful for her willingness to take my photos when I'm home even though she lacks some photography knowledge.

My absence from posting the past few days has been a result of a busy week. This busyness will be continuing for this entire month, unfortunately. Trying to prepare myself for it all. On a brighter note, my weekend was spent at home in Maryland. It has been a few weeks since I was last there, so it felt nice to be back. Spent my Saturday meeting with some people for an exciting upcoming event (I will share with you soon), getting my hair done, and going to Marymount's Portfoilio in Motion. It was my first year attending as alumni. And, yes it felt pretty weird. Before jumping on the bus back to the city today, I enjoyed a Mother's Day brunch at Dutch's Daughter. Always so delicious!

Well, here's to being back to the grind and starting another work week. Mondays always come way too fast! Looking forward to a big cup of coffee in the morning.

WISHING FOR SNOW

(plaid shirt from Old Navy- similar, thrifted sweater, H&M corduroy pants- similar, Forever 21 boots, Steve Madden bag- similar, Michael Kors rose gold watch, other random jewelry)

This beautiful stone building is a church in my small hometown. After my mom and I grabbed lunch, we walked over to check it out. I always admire it each time I drive by. She snapped some pictures of me (hence a few out-of-focus shots) as we froze to death in the cold. This weather has been a bit crazy lately. One minute it's snowing, then suddenly the sky clears up and the sun comes out. Today, however, was definitely the coldest day this winter. It's about that time to bundle up in scarves, hats, and gloves! I am just praying that it will start snowing and not stop five minutes later. I'm ready to see some white on the ground!
