Hey, it's been awhile. But here I am again! Life has been a little hectic (promise to fill you in soon). My mom was here this past weekend for a quick visit and now Monday is here again. It always comes too soon. Couldn't the weekend last just a little bit longer?

P.S. - My SD card decided to remain corrupt, so the rest of my Bronx Zoo photos are lost. For good. And I am super bummed about it.

THE BRONX ZOO PHOTO DIARY

This past Saturday was a huge day for me. I took my first trip ever to a zoo! My mom swears that I went when I was little, but there is absolutely no memory of it. So that means it doesn't count, right? Throughout my life, no one has ever believed me when I told them that I had never been to a zoo. But now I can officially say that I have!

Zachary was begging me for weeks to go with him, so we hopped on on the long subway ride to the Bronx Zoo. The weather was gorgeous, and I must say that I really enjoyed every part of the day. This is coming from someone who used to not be an animal lover. I had so much fun seeing all the different animals and soaking up God's creation. The gorillas were probably the most interesting to see. Two of them started to get in a little fight and one even came up and smacked the glass separating us. No joke. It was crazy. 

Oh, and my SD card decided to corrupt the second half of the photos I took. You can guess that I am pretty upset. I debated throwing my laptop out the window, but I decided against it. Hopefully I can figure out a way to recover them. For now, enjoy these!

FROM MANHATTAN TO BROOKLYN

After I got off work on Monday, Marcy and I took a nice walk along the Brooklyn Bridge. This is probably one of my favorite things to do here, and it's even prettier at night. I also love the fact that it resembles the Pont des Arts bridge in Paris with locks along it. See a previous post from Paris here (yes, that's the lock I put on the Pont des Arts). 

Today is my Friday, as I will be enjoying a three day weekend. I am beyond excited. 7 o'clock, hurry up!

PARTS OF A GREAT WEEKEND

This weekend has been one of the best ones since I have moved to New York. Marcy is here for a visit, and we have had so many good times together. Friday night we enjoyed dinner at an Irish restaurant across the street from my apartment, which has now become my new favorite spot to eat. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably are already aware. Their food is amazing, but the fact that it's BYOB makes it so much better. Yesterday we spent some time at Battery Park so she could see Lady Liberty herself and then ventured into SoHo. The weather was not on our side (walking around the city in the middle of August is pretty disgusting), so we called it a day and enjoyed some mexican food at home. Fiesta night has always been a Marcy and Melissa tradition. Our times spent together must involve some of my homemade guacamole. Oh, and my new blender was put to good use for some margaritas. We have spent some time exploring my new neighborhood here in Brooklyn, and I can't wait to share more with you all!

P.S. - My plan to convince Marcy to stay forever has slightly worked. She may be staying an extra 

few days. Woo hoo!
