HOME SWEET HOME

Here are just a few shots from when I was home in Maryland this past weekend. My parents persuaded me to stay Sunday night and take a 5:30 AM bus back to the city. Let's just say that was a bad idea. I did not make it to the office until noon. It was pure craziness. However, I was blessed to finally make it back there to visit. Got to enjoy some of my dad's homemade soup, do a little baking, and see all the new things my mom has added to our house (there's always something new). I miss my parents more than they probably think I do. Can't wait to be back there for Christmas! There's just something about home.

SNAPSHOTS

This is how I spent my week away from the city and away from Hurricane Sandy. Lots of country roads and good cooking. I was relieved, however, to finally make it back into my apartment and get back to the routine of things.

Everyone who has been affected by the hurricane are still in my prayers. The storm caused a lot of devastation in the city and outside the city. My heart goes out to those who are still dealing with the aftermath.

BE RIGHT BACK

Today was my Friday! Woo hoo! I am headed to PA for a three day weekend to celebrate Zachary's birthday. It's been awhile since I jumped on a bus and took a little trip away from Brooklyn. Let's just hope that my horror stories from past bus trips don't become reality again.

I am beyond excited to see the beautiful state during the fall. It's gonna be gorgeous. I just know it. Trees, please make sure all your leaves are changed to the colors of autumn for my arrival!

TONIGHT

This is the song for me that ever since I first heard it, it plays daily on my iPod. It never gets old. It reminds me of the people in my life that have changed me in ways I would have never thought. Tonight, I am thankful for this song and for the people who have changed me.

Just a little look at some things that have made me happy recently.

BACK TO BACK

Pretty obsessed with turning my photos into little eye tricks lately. Photoshop is officially being added to my Christmas wish list.

Side note: I pulled out these Steve Madden wedges today finally, and I'm pretty sure I will be wearing them all season long.

THIS YEAR'S PUMPKIN

Look what I did this past weekend! Zachary was kind enough to buy me a pumpkin, considering it's all I've been talking about since fall began. We spent our Sunday carving it out, drilling some polka dots in it, and adding a little bit of a gold touch (the glitter was my idea, not Zachary's). My pumpkin is now adding a little taste of autumn to my room, and I am loving it! I sat it next to some flowers I've had for awhile now, which I am trying my best to keep alive. It was a perfect October Sunday. I am so excited for everything about fall!

P.S. - I had more photos, but they were lost due to another memory card getting corrupted. Don't worry though because I went to RadioShack today to stop this from happening!

REFLECTING

Sunday night: I am sitting in my room with a cup of hot tea after just finding that for a second time my latest photos were lost because of a corrupted memory card. Pictures lost, again. However, this night has given me the perfect opportunity to write a post that I have been wanting to for awhile now. And, it's this post. Usually a 'reflecting' post happens at the end of a year when we are all welcoming a new one, but who says I have to follow the rules?

It's been a little over six months since I made the move to New York City. Six whole months. I was given an opportunity to intern in the exact field I wanted to work, and my internship quickly turned into a full-time 'real adult' job. I've been wanting to be completely honest here on my blog, but sometimes I'm not. I guess it's because I worry. I worry mostly that you guys would think I'm complainer and stop even coming to my blog. But complaining is definitely not what I want to do. I've been taught to 'do everything without complaining.' I guess I just want you to get a little peek inside of my life lately and how I've been feeling. On that note, here's the truth: I'm tired, uninspired, and unmotivated. Oh man.. I said it.

I've definitely been struggling. I get home from work after a ten hour work day (oh, and taking the subway an hour each way) and all I want to do is chill out. I want to escape the computer screen after looking at one all day emailing bloggers and managing social platforms for clients. Yeah, working in social media leaves me hardly any time for my own. Doesn't make sense, right? Because of all this, my blog here has not gotten where I want it to be. The days when I had time to update daily have quickly vanished. I sometimes even feel like I have nothing 'new' or 'interesting' to share with you.

Despite everything I have mentioned so far, there is one thing I do understand. Life changes. There are cycles with everything in life, even something like this blog. I can honestly say that my interests have changed a lot over this year, and my blog has gone in many different directions at different times because of that. I share more about how I spend my time or just random inspiration rather than what I'm wearing each day. 'Fashion' has become a little less of an interest to me. And, I'm perfectly okay with that. I'm seeking to feel inspired again, while taking in all these new changes.

So now I am going to hit the publish button and hope that this post was a good idea.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

HELLO, BEST TIME OF THE YEAR

This post is a little overdue, since the first day of fall was the 22nd of September. But I still couldn't help sharing a little bit of my favorite season that is just now beginning. Fall brings so many good things. Good coffee (pumpkin spice is currently at the office), pumpkin spice candles, and well.. everything pumpkin! It's also time to break out the sweaters and boots. Such an exciting season. I love watching the leaves change, and I am even more excited to experience fall in New York City! One thing I do know is that I will have to find a pumpkin patch somewhere.. And I don't think I will be finding one in the city.

SUNDAY

I have always said that Sunday is my favorite day of the week. Sunday funday, right? Although this could probably still be true, my Sundays are not like they used to be. Like they were before I moved to New York and started a career. Sunday now means the end to a weekend of relaxation and that the dreaded Monday morning is soon approaching. Sunday also involves a goodbye to Zachary if we have the chance for a weekend visit. Today, I'm thinking about change. How much life changes as you get older- even like how you spend your Sunday. I do know, however, that change is never a bad thing. If I want, I can still make Sunday my favorite day of the week.

How do you usually spend your Sunday?

KEEP CALM AND DRINK TEA

My day has been spent at home, after waking up feeling like total crap. It was only a matter of time before I caught the sore throat/cough bug that has been going around. Rest was just what I needed. I am currently drinking tea and downloading lots of new music in order to give my iPod a little makeover!

That means any suggestions would be much appreciated. What should I download?
