THE SMOKE JOINT

Couldn't resist letting you all know about one of the best restaurants ever, right here in Brooklyn. If you're looking for the perfect comfort food or just some down right amazing barbeque, The Smoke Joint is the place to be. After going there with my parents the first weekend I moved here, Chanelle and I went back today to enjoy it all over again. Chose the pulled pork sandwich, with their mac and cheese and cornbread. Literally the best cornbread I have ever had. They also serve lots of different local beers that are brewed here in New York. Today, I enjoyed a golden ale from the Harlem Brewing Company. Yum! Oh, and the prices are very reasonable. I took a takeout menu in hopes that they deliver to our apartment (crossing my fingers. haha). Already thinking about the next time I will indulge in some more Smoke Joint food.

Now that I am in New York City, I will want to share with you all the good restaurants I find. Be prepared to see some more food pop up here in addition to my outfit posts!

STREET SHADOW

(Talbots sweater, thrifted pants, G by Guess offords, gifted purse, gifted and other vintage rings)

How awesome is the shadow in these shots? This could possibly be my favorite background ever. Credit given to Rebekka for pointing it out while we were walking down the street! Love these wide leg chiffon pants I found thrifting awhile ago. Paired a 'pop of color' sweater with them, and I was a happy girl. Should have rolled up the sleeves a little more (as you can see), but it was a bit chilly outside today. It was my attempt at staying warm. Spring weather, I am ready for you now so please come soon.

Tomorrow is Friday, which means the weekend is so close to being here! Excited to be here in the city after spending last weekend back home. Do you have any exciting plans?

AFTER THE RAIN

(Rachael & Chloe Dress, vintage blazer, Nine & Co. boots, vintage gold ring, other gifted ring)

Again, another dress that I bought and haven't worn many times (actually this was my first time wearing it). And, I bought it months ago. Whenever I buy something new, I either wear it right away or it sits in my closet for a long time before making an appearance. I sense a trend of 'wear the things I have bought but not yet worn' coming. Sure this happens to the best of us. Loved pairing it today with this blazer that I also wore here not too long ago.

So glad I missed the rain today. It always seems to play out perfectly. I am either in the subway or in the office when the rain decides to come. Don't mind that one bit either. This girl does not like the rain.

Hope you all are having a great week!

BUTTONED UP

(Collective Concepts dress, Hue tights, Nine West boots- similar, Danielle Nicole bag, Michael Kors watch, all vintage jewelry)

I got this dress last summer when I was interning for Nordstrom in Dallas, but have only worn it a few times. It's one of those simple and easy dresses you don't have to add anything to. Decided to throw it on this morning with some tights and boots (since the weather has decided to turn into winter again). Surprised that it has not shown up on the blog sooner. Oh, and I thought I had lost this bag somewhere in between my travels last fall. Found it when I went back home and was so excited! It's one of my favorite bags. Love the Missoni-inspired chevron print.

IN BLOSSOM

(vintage Laura Ashley blazer, Avant-Première top, DKNY leggings, vintage loafers, Michael Kors watch
vintage rings)

Well, Monday came too fast and my weekend at home ended quickly. It felt good to be back at my parent's house, and it's still such a crazy feeling that I have packed up and moved away. My Saturday was spent shopping with my mom, just like old times. Thrifted some amazing things I cannot wait to share with you all! Saturday night I enjoyed some Mexican food and margaritas with my brother, sister-in-law, and the parentals. I am told that you cannot get good Mexican food here in the city, so I had to get my fix at my favorite place
back home.

Sunday afternoon I was reunited with my best friend Marcy. We went to Baltimore Coffee where we enjoyed a 'cup of joe', and I stocked up with some blueberry coffee to bring back with me. Cannot live without their coffee! It gets me started every single morning. I am sure you have heard me talk about their coffee plenty of times before on here. The sun finally came out, and it was perfect weather for Baker Park. Broke out this floral blazer for the day, and I blended right in with the pink flowers that are blossoming. It was a great first weekend back since moving. Excited to go back in less than two weeks for Easter!

P.S. - We acted like little kids and played on the swings. Felt like I was back in middle school!

SNAPSHOTS

View from Central Park | Fancy for water and coffee | Two of my favorite things: iced coffee and 'Cameron Canon' | Pretty flowers on my desk | Argo Tea heaven | Hot chocolate and The Hunger Games | Beautiful day in Chelsea | Red toes at the beginning of spring | Delicious hummus and avocado sandwich at The Grey Dog

Lately, I have been pretty sleep deprived. Had to be up at 4 a.m. on Thursday for a photoshoot for work and of course that did not stop me from going to get in line to see The Hunger Games for the midnight showing that night. And even then, that still didn't stop me from taking a night bus to come home for the weekend after work yesterday. It's been a little crazy. Definitely looking for a good night's rest sometime soon. Now, I am back home at my parents house and excited for a relaxing weekend (and sleeping in my big comfy bed here).

Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!
